Privacy Policy: what we collect (almost nothing)

SmallBusinessIdea.net is a static informational website. This page explains, in plain English, what little data is involved when you read it.

Effective date: June 11, 2026

Note: this policy is a template and should be reviewed (and adapted to your analytics setup and applicable laws) before publishing.

What this site is

SmallBusinessIdea.net is a static informational website. We publish guides and lists — like our small business ideas directory and our how to start a business walkthrough — as plain web pages. There are no user accounts, no logins, no shopping carts, and no purchases. You can read everything on this site without telling us who you are.

Information we do not collect

Because the site is static, we do not collect:

  • Registration or account data — there is nothing to sign up for.
  • Payment or billing information — nothing is sold on this site.
  • Form submissions — the site has no forms that send data to us. If you want to reach us, you email us directly (see Contact below).

We do not build profiles of visitors, and we do not sell personal information.

Information collected automatically

Like nearly every website, this site is served by a hosting provider whose servers keep standard access logs. When your browser requests a page, the log entry typically includes your IP address, your browser's user agent string, the page requested, and a timestamp. These logs exist for security and operational reasons (such as detecting abuse and diagnosing outages), are retained by the hosting provider under its own policies, and are not used by us to identify individual readers.

Analytics

Placeholder — review before publishing

[Analytics disclosure — if an analytics tool (e.g., a privacy-focused or Google Analytics setup) is added, disclose the tool, what it collects, and opt-out options here.]

Cookies

This site itself sets no first-party cookies. We do not need them: there are no logins, preferences, or carts to remember. Third parties mentioned below may set their own cookies or log requests under their own policies.

Fonts

The typeface used on this site is self-hosted: font files are served directly from smallbusinessidea.net, so viewing our pages does not cause your browser to contact a third-party font service such as Google Fonts, and no font-related data is shared with any third party.

Advertising

This site maintains an ads.txt file, which is a standard mechanism for declaring authorized ad sellers.

Placeholder — review before publishing

[If advertising is enabled, disclose the ad network, personalized-ads details, and consent mechanism here.]

External links

Our guides — for example, the small business tools roundup — link to external websites and resources. Once you leave this site, those sites' privacy practices are their own. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any site you visit.

Children's privacy

This site publishes general-audience informational content about starting and running small businesses. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, children included.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, privacy laws such as the EU's GDPR or California's CCPA may give you rights to access, correct, or delete personal data a website holds about you, and to object to certain processing. Because this site holds no personal data about its readers, there is usually nothing for us to access or delete. If you believe we hold information about you, or you simply have questions, contact us and we will respond. You can read more about who runs this site on our About page, and how the site may be used in our Terms of Use.

Changes to this policy

If our practices change — for example, if we add analytics or advertising — we will update this page and post the new version here with a revised effective date. The "Effective date" at the top of this page always reflects the current version.
